While Rob and I are here enjoying the beach, Guatemala is in a state of catastrophe. Pacaya, the volcano that we climbed has been erupting, spewing ash all over Guatemala City. To add to the disaster, Agatha, the first hurricane of the season came through the next day, causing floods which mixed with the ash causing tons of mud. I've been updated on the family that we stayed with in Guatemala City, to find that their home is covered in black ash. Thankfully, my cousin is safely in Montreal with her family.
I'm not sure what we can do to help at this point. It feels weird to be so close yet so far away.
