Flor de Copan Cigar Factory

We made it this morning to the cigar factory for the tour. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take any pictures. It was very interesting and we were really glad that we decided to try again before heading out of town to Gracias. Our guide took us through the entire process. First, they receive the tobacco from local growers. The leaves are seperated by size and the stems are removed by hand. They are then dried in a huge oven overnight and then aged for 8 months. Then the tobacco is formed into the correct sizes and shapes and then finally hand rolled into beautiful cigars. Then they are labeled, packaged and shipped all over the world. The factory conditions were pretty good and it employs many people from the town. We saw some familiar brands like Romeo and Julietta.
